If bar brawls needed a soundtrack, Birmingham’s Caddle would never want for a gig.

Self-described as the "bastard sons of Southern rock," the band’s music is meant for audiences who wanna
party just as hard — and probably for about as long — as they work.

"This is right-up-the-gut, beer-drinkin’, singalong songs that people in bars just love to listen and sometimes
fight to," says frontman Phillip Hyde. "We play to the carpenters and the painters, those people who pay their
money to drink some beer and listen to rock music."

And that’s just what Caddle plans to bring to Anniston Saturday night as the band plays its first show at The
Peerless Saloon.

"It’s gonna be a great show," Hyde promises. "We’re gonna be pedal-to-the-floor all night long."
With an intoxicating sound that blends outlaw country and punk rock swagger, the blue-collar boys in Caddle,
who are based out of Birmingham, aren’t much for pretense. If their music — like their lifestyle — has a
philosophy, it’s about as deep as a bag of mini-mart Doritos. But enlightenment ain’t the goal for Caddle. As
the title to their debut EP, Cuz Beer Don’t Grow on Trees, plainly states, Caddle is all about having a good
time.

"We’ve all got regular, paying jobs," says Hyde who, is a land surveyor during the day. "But come the
weekend, we’re ready to get up there and go after it. And we plan to bring the crowd along for the ride."
The Peerless show will feature mostly original songs along with a number of covers ranging from Hank
Williams Jr. to OutKast, Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Georgia Satellites. But it’s not the cover tunes that Hyde & Co.
really care about.

"It’s hard to play all originals for two or three hours and keep the crowd going," he says. "But we generally
half-ass our way through the covers."

With songs like "Doublewide," "Work" and "Better Bad," Hyde has culled lyrical inspiration by simply looking
around the redneck world in which he lives.

"I grew up in Arab, Alabama," he says. "I’ve got relatives who live in trailers, lost jobs because they showed
up drunk all the time and have old washers and dryers rusting out on the front porch.

"It’s that redneck pride set to music, that blue-collar, hard-working mentality, that our fans relate to."
